One of the most effective ways to limit the access to your website is to block the IP addresses of individuals which must not be able to open it. There are various reasons to do this. For example, you may want a specific individual not to be able to see your Internet site, or you can limit the access for an entire country. You can also block IP addresses in case you notice that there are lots of browser requests from them, if many spam comments are left in your Internet sites or if a script login page has been loaded a large number of times. In any of these situations, the traffic is most probably fake and has been produced by an automatic bot, so you may safely block any questionable IP address, in order to be on the safe side. That way, you shall also stay away from the chance of your web server getting overloaded by too many fake requests.

IP Blocking in Website Hosting

If you have a website hosting account with our company and you want to block one or several IP addresses, you may use the IP Blocking tool, that is incorporated into our in-house built Hepsia CP. By using a pretty simple interface, you'll be able to prevent any IP from accessing your content even if you have never had a web hosting account before. All it requires to complete that is to log inside to your CP, to check out the IP Blocking section, to select a specific domain or subdomain from a drop-down menu and then to enter the IP address. You simply won't have to do anything complicated if you want to block a whole network - you'll just need to omit the last octet, so entering 1.1.1. with a blank space after the last dot shall block the full range from 1.1.1.1 to 1.1.1.255. All blocked IPs shall be listed within the same exact section, so you'll be able to remove any one of them from the blacklist with just a click.

IP Blocking in Semi-dedicated Servers

The Hepsia hosting Control Panel, offered with our semi-dedicated hosting plans, will enable you to solve the problem with unwanted traffic very easily. It features an IP blocking tool in which you could add IP addresses with only several mouse clicks. All domains and subdomains which you have inside the account shall be listed in a drop-down menu, so you simply have to choose the one you need and then type in the IP address that has to be blocked. If you wish to block a whole range, a C-class network for example, you just have to input the first 3 octets of the IP and leave the last one blank. That will block all 254 addresses, so you'll not have to type in them manually. Since all the IPs which you include in this section shall be listed, you could very easily unblock any of them by clicking the Delete button related to the given IP.
