Started in 2001, the .NAME universal top-level domain is the only one supposed to be for personal web pages only. These domain names can include personal or fictitious names, aliases and/or other titles people are popular by. At first, solely third-level registrations were possible, so if you wished to reserve john.doe.name, you were supposed to do that under .doe.name. In 2004, however, the registration procedures were liberalized and second-level registrations were also allowed. Already registered 3rd-level names remained active.

You will have the opportunity to modify the WHOIS information, to park your domain, to modify Custom DNS records, etc. You can also transfer an already registered domain to our firm if you get its EPP transfer code from the current registration provider and we will renew it when the transfer has been finished. There are no particular regulations on who can purchase a dot NAME domain, but in order to keep the objective behind its establishment alive, the dot NAME Registry organization may verify who the owner is and if there is no link between the owner and the actual domain name, the registration may be challenged.
